Background

The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF) is a government-owned Microfinance Institution whose mission is to economically empower ordinary and underserved Malawians (particularly women, youth, and persons with disability) through the provision of quality, affordable and sustainable microfinance services for improved livelihoods.

Job Description
  • To lead the development, implementation, and oversight of policies, strategies, and operational plans for loan operations at NEEF to ensure quality service to Fund’s customers and continuous growth of the loan portfolio.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing policies, plans, budgets and strategies for loan operations to drive continuous growth of the loan portfolio
  • Establishing and overseeing operations of national branch network across Malawi, ensuring compliance to all regulatory requirements
  • Leading in forming alliances and strategic partnerships for product delivery services
  • Monitoring loan activations across the branch network to enforce strict compliance with requirements
  • Monitoring performance to ensure that employees meet set caseloads and targets
  • Devising and implementing strategies ensure that penetration rates across rural Malawi are above 50% within reasonable time as set by the Board.
  • Recruiting, training and assessing businesses of customers
  • Conducting periodic market research on all products to monitor products performance and identify improvements
  • Developing new products responding to customer needs in the rural finance market for Malawi
  • Collaborating with the Marketing and Communication team to effectively promote NEEF products and services through all channels targeting the bottom of the economic pyramid customers.
  • Leading the development, review and implementation of NEEF Business Plans, and strategies.
  • Defining, identifying, mitigating or transferring all risks, and disseminating credit risk policy manuals to staff and enforcing adherence to the policies.
  • Always maintaining low loan portfolio at risk.
  • Preparing and submitting periodic reports to Management and the Board
Qualification and Experience
  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking or any related field obtained from institutions accredited by NCHE.
  • 7 years of working experience of which 3 years is at senior management position.
