Job Description
To oversee risk management and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while supporting the strategic objectives of the Fund.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Overseeing the development, approval, implementation, and periodic maintenance of the Fund’s risk appetite, policies, and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
Preparing and integrating risk management priorities into the company’s strategic planning processes and systems, establishing methodologies for ongoing identification and assessment of material risks.
Developing a comprehensive Risk Management Framework that includes Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Internal Controls to monitor current risk exposures and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Developing and implementing a robust system for identifying, monitoring, managing, and controlling credit, market, and operational risks while promoting understanding of key risk concepts among the Board and Management.
Monitoring the Fund’s risk appetite in accordance with regulatory standards and advise the Board on current and future risk appetites, including reviewing reports on breaches and remediation actions.
Providing overall leadership and guidance to the Risk Management function to of all staff by overseeing talent promotion, career development, succession planning, staff appraisals, performance monitoring and reviews, and building staff capacities.
Monitoring and enforcing compliance with relevant laws, rules, regulations, corporate governance practices, and resolutions of both the Board and AGM meetings
Managing the designing, implementation, review and approval of a NEEF’s risk governance framework that is aligned with strategy and NEEF’s risk culture, risk appetite and risk limits.
Developing and implanting strategies to assist the Board to foster a supportive risk culture throughout the Fund, and ensure that risk management principles are embedded in organizational practices.
Qualification and Experience
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration/Management and Auditing from a NCHE accredited University.
5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in risk management, internal control or audit, preferably from a microfinance, banking or financial institution.
Professional qualifications (e.g. ICAM, ACCA, CIMA or CIA)
Registered with Malawi Accountants Board or with the Institute of Internal Auditors and ICAM
