Violet William couldnโt hide her excitement after a successful receipt of non โ collateral 'Vuukani mu matope a umphawi' loan from National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), amounting to MK300,000.00. She is a member of Majiga Women, a business group which hails from Sumaili village, Traditional Authority Jalasi, Mangochi district. The fiveโmember grouping runs fruit, legume and vegetable businesses at Namwera market and decided to request for Vuukani loan from NEEF to advance their businesses.
William shared that her entrepreneurial journey has had its fair share of bumps, especially with sourcing capital to make things really take off. Living in the village and carrying the burden of domestic responsibilities with no other means of sourcing funds apart from running small-scale businesses has been difficult to help make ends meet. However, with NEEF loans, William is hopeful that a new dawn has come.
โNEEF has come in handy with this MK1,500,000.00 loan, of which each one of us has an equal share of MK300,000.00 to invest in our businesses. We are very grateful,โ narrated William.
With this loan, she has vowed to put in more effort to succeed and break out of poverty and the dependency syndrome. William also plans on extending her business to rearing domestic animals and building a descent house for her family as she progresses in her business.
Currently, NEEFโs Eastern Region has disbursed over MK100 Million under Vuukani Loans as a way of supporting under-served Malawians to break away from poverty circles and become economically empowered
