The Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Information and Digitalization in collaboration with the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) officially launched the 2024/2025 Farm Input Loan Program in Chintheche and Nkhata-Bay.

Speaking during the event, the Funds Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Humphrey Mdyetseni, explained on the inclusive nature of the Farm Input Loan Program, stressing that all applicants, regardless of their location, would benefit from the initiative.

โ€œWe even utilized boats to deliver fertilizers to remote areas, such as Makanjira in Mangochi, to ensure no district was left behind. Our ultimate goal is to contribute to socio-economic development while fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship throughout the country,โ€ explained Mdyetseni.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Benedicto Chambo, expressed his satisfaction with the impactful work being carried out by NEEF. He said that through Farm Input loans, Malawians will have access to food for both consumption and sale.
โ€œI am truly pleased to see so many farmers benefiting from this program. Seeing this progress assures me that we are making significant strides in combating hunger this year,โ€ he remarked.

Senior Chief Nkumbira also expressed his gratitude towards NEEF for considering his area to benefit from Farm Input loans.
โ€œNkhatabay is well known for fishing but this did not stop NEEF from giving out loans to those who wanted to benefit. I do not take this for granted and I am urging my people to use this fertilizer and repay the loan in time so that they will be able to benefit more next farming season,โ€ elaborated Nkumbira.
