armers under the Jinthajembe group in Mphompha EPA, Rumphi East, are already reaping big from NEEFโ€™s Micro-Irrigation and Farm Implements Loan. Their loan package included fertilizer, seed, chemicals, and PVC pipes for gravity-fed irrigation.

The group is now harvesting Irish potatoes and cashing in the income. The Marketing Chairperso of the grouo, Mr. Noris Munthali, says the loan has been a game-changer. โ€œWe are already selling potatoes and earning income. This puts us in a good position to repay our loan before it matures while improving our familiesโ€™ livelihoods. Even our maize crop is doing very well and will boost our food security once harvested.โ€

The 77-member group (22 men, 32 women, and 23 youths) is cultivating 187 acres, 75 under beans and 112 under maize. Diversified farming, including sweet potatoes and vegetables, is keeping their income ever flowing.

Mr. Munthali is setting the pace among the group, cultivating 7 acres (2 acres of Irish potatoes, 3 acres of maize and 2 acres of beans). From just 1.5 acres of potatoes, he has already made MK4 million profit and expects to earn over MK20 million from all his crops this season.

This is the true impact of NEEFโ€™s Micro-Irrigation Loan, transforming lives, boosting food security, and driving community progress.
