The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) has commended the youth in the Lakeshore zone for their seriousness and commitment towards utilizing and repaying NEEF loans.

Speaking during a special interface meeting held in Salima, NEEF Chief Executive Officer, Humphrey Mdyetseni expressed satisfaction with the youth's enthusiasm and responsible approach. The youth from the zone sought direct engagement with NEEF to discuss their desire for accessing loan products. โ€œI am impressed with the dedication and drive shown by the youth here. We want to see young people taking initiative and choosing business and farming as viable solutions in the face of rising unemployment,โ€ said Mdyetseni.

Mdyetseni further encouraged the youth to remain focused and ambitious, noting that business and agriculture are key to achieving self-reliance and improving livelihoods.

He reiterated NEEFโ€™s belief that young people are the cornerstone of national development and, when they are supported to venture into farming, they can significantly contribute to food security in Malawi.

Speaking on behalf of the youth, Maxwell Chisindo, Chairperson of the Salima Youth Scheme, echoed Mdyetseniโ€™s sentiments and pledged that young entrepreneurs in the Lakeshore zone would continue to work hard and honor their loan obligations. โ€œWe are committed to repaying our loans on time so that we can benefit from other initiatives such as the micro-irrigation loan, which NEEF is currently promoting,โ€ said Chisindo.

NEEF continues to support youth across Malawi with innovative financial products aimed at empowering them to drive the countryโ€™s economic transformation.
