MCHINJI YOUTHS ENCOURAGED TO BE PROACTIVE IN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) has urged young people to actively participate in empowerment programs aimed at transforming their livelihoods and contributing towards Malawi’s development.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Mchinji District Youth Forum on 26th May 2025, NEEF Chief Executive Officer, Humphrey Mdyetseni highlighted that youth are currently the least represented demographic in NEEF loan uptake -a gap that threatens inclusive national development.
“Young people must rise to the occasion and claim their space in the economic landscape,” Mdyetseni said.
He emphasized that youth have a critical role to play in driving the Malawi 2063 vision forward, citing their energy and promising potential.
Adding to the discussion, Vice Chairperson of the Mchinji Youth Forum, Bonifasio Jepheter, encouraged young people to apply the knowledge shared during the session to uplift their businesses and strengthen their role in local development.
“We must not let this information go to waste. Let’s take bold steps, access the loans, and become examples of progress in our communities,”Jepheter said.
The meeting concluded with NEEF reaffirming its continued commitment to nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit among the youth, recognising them as a vital force in shaping Malawi’s economic future.
