NEEF BOOSTS FOOD SECURITY WITH MICRO-IRRIGATION LOANS IN MPONELA ZONE

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) has intensified its micro-irrigation loan disbursements in Mponela zone, Dowa District, bringing renewed hope for food security and economic growth.
Speaking during the disbursement in Chidzaye village, NEEF CEO, Mr. Humphrey Mdyetseni, urged beneficiaries to make the most of the agricultural inputs. “These inputs must be used wisely to get the best from the land,” he emphasized.
Mdyetseni added that the initiative also contributes to job creation, especially among the youth.
Khamalathu Irrigation Scheme in Mvera , which’s supports 70 members, including 22 women, 24 men, and 24 youths cultivating 82 acres walked away with 350 kg of maize seed and 164 bags of fertilizer (82 NPK and 82 Urea).
Senior Chief Chiwere applauded the initiative, noting its potential to transform lives. “These loans are a lifeline for our communities. They will help us fight hunger and improve the daily lives of our people,” he said.
Pledging to honor their commitment in repaying the loan, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Chikumbutso Thamisoni, said “we will ensure we repay the loans on time so that others can also benefit.’
