The Fund through its Institution Integrity Committee (IIC) and in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a Farm Input loans monitoring exercise to strengthen its Anti-corruption awareness efforts and ensure that all loan operations and activities of the Fund are corrupt free and align with national anti-corruption policies and regulations.

The monitoring exercise was strengthened by the ACB Director General, Mr. Hillary Chilomba, alongside the highest office of the Fund leading the IIC visited Farm Input loan beneficiaries in Blantyre, Ntcheu, and Dedza districts.

In Ntcheu, the team met up with Mr. Dyson Gunya from Kalilombe, TA Chakhumbila, who received a loan of K5,500,000 and cultivating 23 acres of maize and 7 acres of sweet potatoes. He expects to harvest about 1000 bags of maize. “I am very grateful for this Farm Input loan program as I couldn’t afford to cultivate such a large land before. NEEF has truly helped me reach greater heights,” explained Gunya.

ACB Director General, Mr. Chilomba commended NEEF, saying, “we have seen that NEEF provides loans to all Malawians, regardless of political affiliation. I am also encouraged to have witnessed youths who have a mindset to develop themselves through these loans as this shows that they have no time to engage themselves in corrupt behaviors or find quick schemes to get rich,” elaborated Chilomba.

NEEF Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mdyetseni added that through the IIC, it is committed to upholding integrity in its loan procedures so that all tax payers’ funds are accountably utilized.

“I am happy to see the success of these farmers. Their hard work is inspiring but also a testament that the loans are responsibly used for the economic empowerment of Malawians,” said Mdyetseni.

NEEF through its Institution Integrity Committee (IIC) will continue to conduct anti-corruption awareness campaigns through staff training to promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within the Fund.
