The Board Chairperson of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), Mr. Jephta Mtema, expressed satisfaction with the progress and productivity of farmers who have benefited from its agricultural Farm Input Loans in Mchinji District.

During a field monitoring exercise to several farms in Walilanji, Matutu and Kapiri in Mchinji District, Mtema observed different thriving crops including maize, groundnuts, and soybean fields cultivated by farmers who accessed Farm Input Loans inform of cash and fertilizer from NEEF. The visit aimed to assess the impact of the loans and engage directly with beneficiaries.

โ€œThese impressive crops we have seen today are a testament to the effectiveness of our agricultural loan program. Itโ€™s encouraging to witness how access to farm inputs such as fertilizer has empowered farmers to improve their productivity and livelihoods,โ€ Mtema stated.
One beneficiary, Susan Filipo, shared how the loan helped her expand her farming operations.

โ€œBefore receiving the NEEF loan, I could only cultivate a small portion of my land. This year, Iโ€™ve managed to plant more maize and groundnuts, and the crops are thriving. Iโ€™m confident that my harvest will be more abundant, improving my familyโ€™s income and food security,โ€ said Filipo.

Mtema reiterated NEEFโ€™s commitment to expanding its reach and encouraged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to sustain their farming businesses.

As NEEF continues to foster agricultural growth in districts like Mchinji, the success stories of its clients highlight the critical role that financial inclusion plays in driving rural development and improving livelihoods across Malawi.
