The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) is conducting post-disbursement monitoring in the Southern Region to assess the impact of its financial support on beneficiaries. This exercise aims to ensure that beneficiaries utilize the funds effectively and enhance productivity in food production.
During a monitoring visit in Blantyre, NEEF officials met with Anne Likoswe of T/A Magobede, Chigalu Village, a dedicated farmer who has shown remarkable resilience in her maize farming endeavors. Likoswe shared her experience of overcoming challenges in this season.

"When my maize was attacked by pests in during the cob development stage, I decided to remove all of it and start again. Replanting has been easy because I first plant my maize in a nursery and later transplant it to the farm," she explained.

Likoswe expressed her gratitude to NEEF for the fertilizer support she received, emphasizing that it would greatly enhance the growth of her newly transplanted maize.

"The fertilizer I received from the Fund will make it easy for my maize to grow well this time. I am hopeful for a good harvest," she said.
NEEF’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Humphrey Mdyetseni who was part of the monitoring team, commended Likoswe’s determination and innovative approach to farming.

"I am very happy with this farmer and wish all farmers would think like her. Once their maize has not done well, they should quickly remove and replant, especially since the rains are still falling," he remarked.

The post-disbursement monitoring exercise continues in various districts, as NEEF remains committed to ensuring that its beneficiaries maximize their potential and contribute to the country's economic growth.
