Gloria Simba always saw owning a well-stocked grocery store as just a dream. She had been admiring and applauding others who had developed their lives whilst longing for her turning point to come. Simba who hails from Chauluka village, Traditional Authority Nsamala, Balaka district, formed Chilungamo womenโs group in 2021 with her fellow women and started getting business loans as capital for their business. Her small grocery store marked a humble beginning but a great entrepreneur journey which later changed her economic status.
Since 2021, Simba has accessed four loan cycles from NEEF through Chilungamo womenโs group. She firstly acquired MK300,000.00 in 2021 and after a successful repayment, NEEF trusted her with MK500,000.00 loan. Her journey continued when she received another loan amounting to MK1,000,000.00. Currently, she is servicing a MK3,000,000.00 loan which she has used to boost her existing business.
โ2021 was a humble beginning for me as I started with just a small grocery store that I have successfully maintained to this day. As years went by, my business expanded to a bar and right now, I am expecting to open another grocery store,โ said Simba.
She believes that women can do better and bigger things unlike relying on their husbands who always have other responsibilities to take care of. She commended NEEF for its timely support on her business growth.
Simbaโs growth is evidence that NEEF loans are meant to provide relief to all Malawians who have the drive to start or boost businesses that will assist them to become economically independent.
